Magellan RoadMate 1470 GPS

Magellan, a manufacturer of GPS and navigation devices, recently introduced its latest product called RoadMate 1470 that features advanced technology which is ideal for constant travelers who need a reliable source of direction.

This gadget features a 4.7-inch screen display equipped with Touch Sensitive Technology that will allow people to easily access different applications and menu. This QVGA screen also provides Auto NightView that will people to adjust the color and contrast ratio of the displayed pictures for convenient viewing even in low-light condition.

Meanwhile, the GPS device offers more than six million points of interest in three countries including Canada, U.S., and Puerto Rico. And to provide more accurate road directions, this gadget supports multi-destination routing, street names and highways, and Roadside Assistance menu.

To allow users to easily access points of interests, the Roadmate 1470 has personalized search icons that each represents the favorite travel destinations of people.

While this gadget provides accurate mapping details, it lacks BlueTooth connectivity for wireless transfer of digital files. To make up for its lack of wireless connectivity, the gadget has USB 2.0 port and microSD card slot for file transfer.

Another downside of this GPS device is the lack of 3D Technology that will support more vivid and accurate road mapping. And unlike some navigation tools which have music entertainment functions—such as media player and FM radio—the RoadMate 1470 also lacks such media feature.

Other features of Magellan RoadMate 1470 are: rechargeable Lithium-ion battery; integrated antenna; Text-to-speech Technology that provides voice direction; intuitive user interface; ultra-thin and compact design; and intelligent technologies such as SmartDetour that provides traffic updates.

In terms of physical features, the gadget has a total measurement of 3.3 (H) x 5.2 (W) x 0.7 (D) inch and weighs approximately 283 g.

According to Magellan website, the RoadMate 1470 comes at a starting price of $229.99. Meanwhile, there is an additional fee for consumers who will need a preloaded map of Mexico.
